New personal subscription terms and conditions
Below are the terms and conditions for personal subscribers to the online journal Before Farming: the archaeology and anthropology of hunter-gatherers, ISSN 1476-4261.
By taking out a subscription to Before Farming you are also agreeing to use this online journal according to these terms and conditions.
1 Using the online journal Before Farming - what your subscription covers
That part of the subscription which relates to the online journal Before Farming actually buys you a licence to use the journal. This licence is not exclusive to you, since other subscribers may also buy such licences, nor is it transferable to someone else. The subscription is personal, and use of the journal is limited to you, for your own research, teaching or private study. Institutional subscriptions are available for multiple users.
During the period of your subscription, 1 January 2008 to 31 December 2008, you may access the issues to which you have subscribed, via the server on which they are located, to search the journal and to retrieve and display all or part of the contents. You may, for your own personal use only, save parts of the work electronically and print out single copies of parts of the work.
Your subscription gives you continuing access to the issues for which you have paid, but the publisher reserves the right to change the method of delivery in future (eg, by giving you a CD, directing you to an archive) should that become appropriate because of technological advances or necessary for some other reason.
You may not alter the work in any way, for example by removing copyright statements or changing identifying names or text. You are not entitled to make systematic printed or electronic copies of multiple sections of the work, you may not allow someone else to use your password to access the journal and you may not use any or all of the journal for commercial purposes. You may not distribute the journal on any electronic network, whether private or public - such as the Internet or World Wide Web. You may create links to Before Farming from other web pages using the URL http://www.waspress.co.uk/journals/beforefarming/
You assume total responsibility and risk for your use of Before Farming.
2 Access to the journal Before Farming
As a subscriber you are entitled to access all the contents of the issues to which you have subscribed, via the World Wide Web, throughout the period of your subscription. The publisher will use all reasonable efforts to make the journal available to you at all times. There will inevitably be periods when it may not be possible to make the journal available, for example during maintenance or because of interruptions to the service which may be beyond our control, such as widespread power loss following bad weather or problems with the World Wide Web. If access is interrupted for a reason which is within our control we will restore access as soon as possible.
You are responsible for all charges associated with accessing the journal, including computer, software, telecommunications or Internet connection charges.
3 Copyright (intellectual property)
All materials in the journal are subject to copyright claims and other proprietary rights. Unless otherwise stated the copyright in all parts of each issue remains with the Western Academic & Specialist Press and the moral rights in the contributions remain with the authors. All rights are reserved. By subscribing to the journal you agree to respect these rights. You may not reproduce, retransmit or otherwise distribute this publication, or parts of it, in any form, without permission from the publisher. If you would like to republish material from this journal please contact the editorial office on enq@waspress.co.uk. By becoming a subscriber (licensee) you do not acquire any intellectual property rights with respect to the journal, except for the right to use the journal in accordance with these terms and conditions.
4 Misuse of the journal
You will be given access to the journal using a password and ID as agreed, on payment of your subscription. Subscriptions are not transferable: you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for use of that password. If we have cause to suspect that you have been misusing your password we will investigate and ask you to explain the problem within 10 days. If, after 10 days, you have not satisfactorily explained the matter, we reserve the right to terminate your access to the journal and cancel your subscription.
If you become aware of any unauthorised use or possession of the journal, abuse of intellectual property relating to the journal in any way, or claims by anyone else that anything in the journal infringes the rights of any third party, you must let the publisher know as soon as possible.
5 Content of the journal
The contents of the journal are published in good faith. We endeavour to ensure that we do not infringe any intellectual property rights by asking our authors to sign a form confirming that they have the right to enter into an agreement to publish the material they provide. The views expressed in the articles in the journal are those of the authors, and do not necessarily reflect the views of either the Western Academic & Specialist Press or the editor.
Links to web sites may be provided in various parts of the journal but we do not accept any responsibility for the content of these web sites.
THE WESTERN ACADEMIC & SPECIALIST PRESS GIVES NO GUARANTEE OF THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF THE MATERIALS CONTAINED IN BEFORE FARMING. THIS INFORMATION IS MADE ON AN AS IS AND AS AVAILABLE BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE PUBLISHER MAY MAKE ANY IMPROVEMENTS AND/OR CHANGES TO THE ONLINE JOURNAL'S PAGES AT ANY TIME AND SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS, COST OR DAMAGE INCLUDING CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE CAUSED BY RELIANCE ON THESE MATERIAL.
6 Advertising
Before Farming may carry advertising material from time to time. The publisher neither endorses nor accepts liability for any of the products advertised in the journal nor for any error or inaccuracy there might be in the advertisements.
7 Refund or cancellation of subscription
Once your payment is received and the transaction is confirmed you will have access to the journal with the password and ID you have chosen. You have free access to the first two issues of Before Farming, 2002/1 and 2002/2, which constitute a reasonable example of the journal issues, and once you have been given access to the 2008 issues for which you have purchased a subscription, they are available for your use. Therefore, once we have confirmed to you that that we have given you access to the journal we are not normally able to give refunds in the event of your cancellation of the subscription. Under certain circumstances we may nevertheless consider making refunds, but this will be solely at the discretion of the publisher.
